[ a few days after christmas, andy will find a small rolled up piece of paper, tied by simple string. it isn't signed with a name, but there's the lingering scent of cigarette smoke, along with the careful scribble of a poem: ]

[ Zari leads Andy back to her room at the Inn. Her steps are light as they walk through the cool air of the night and then through the front of the Inn and up the stairs. She can't help how pleased she looks at how the night is going. Andy really does look great and as much as Zari enjoys a no-strings hookup when she wants one, she has to admit that it's a lot more fun with someone she likes as a person.
Once they're at her door, she releases Andy's arm so that she can open the door and put her cloak on the hook right inside, but then she turns back to Andy and reaches to tug her in, too. ]
It may not be much, but it is private.

[ it is impossible to miss zari's delight as they make their way to the inn, but andy mostly finds it adorable. she has had many a one-night-stand over the years, and a couple repeat beats, and she knows it's not going to change anything about the time traveling vibe they've been growing, even though andy is still not actually a time traveler. zari deserves to have a nice time and andy likes sex, so it's a win/win. ]

He'd picked up a pulsefire saber off one of those Bouldersnakes, and figures if there's anywhere safe on the station to really see what it's capable of, this is probably it.
But it turns out that someone has already beaten him to the room. He's seen Andy around, of course - they've both been here plenty long. But given how busy they're kept with missions, there hasn't been a great time to talk.
Time to fix that, then. He nods in greeting as he approaches, then keeps at a slight distance just so she doesn't hurt her neck looking straight up at him.]

- 2022-06-10 03:43 (UTC) - Expand[ it's a late night as she settles in one corner of the kitchen, the lights here a bit more dim than usual, leaning her hips back against the counter, pint of ice cream in hand as she digs in with a giant spoon. despite the return to the station, her nerves still spring up every now and then, carried over from the final results of the mission and the three extra weeks they spent lingering around there.

[That went simultaneously as good and as bad as Daisy excepted it to, and she managed to stop herself from hurling to her death at the last second. She still got pretty scuffed up on the hard landing, and from the blood pooling around her stomach she definitely ripped her stitches. Leaning against the wall with her hand pressed firmly against her stomach, she listens as Viveca explains what happened. Watching as the orb leaves Andy mutilated hand, Daisy pushes off the wall and moves towards her with concern.
She knew something like this was likely to happen, and Andy had signed up for it willingly. Still, it hurts Daisy to see her like this.]

[ andy's skin is essentially on fire. she knows it looks fairly gruesome, and she can feel the pain of it reverberating up her arms, into her skull from the way her cheek hangs from her face, all the places the crab armor hadn't been able to protect. there's a feverish temperature to her whole body. her hands are essentially blood and bones, but the orb still floats from her fingertips to viveca's as her knees shake. ]
[ she teeters on the edge of death, but now that they're back on the station, now that there's no constant stream of lava, her skin and body begin to piece themselves back together. she closes her eyes as viveca talks and frowns as her muscles begin to regrow. the burns are bad enough that she knows it's going to take a while, and andy wishes she could move away from here, to avoid any of the concerns people will throw at her. she doesn't need the infirmary, she just needs time. ]

[ honestly, despite the literal near death experience and the burning of her skin, andy is in much better spirits after this mission than the last two. she knows joe's not quite there yet, and he may not get there, but andy feels better. she'd rather lose a limb than be underwater again any time soon. ]
